Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among American teenagers, killing hundreds of thousands.  Based on crashes of all severities, the crash rate per mile driven among 16- to 19-year-olds is four times the risk among older drivers.  Maricopa Drivers Education is a company in the city of Maricopa that was founded by police officers who wanted to give defensive driving tools to local teen drivers to help make roads safer for all of us.  Off-duty police officers teach all the courses at MDE.  Students can come to MDE not only to learn to drive, but to learn to drive more safely.
